Black Leadership Roundtable

Since its inception in 1989, the St. Louis Black Leadership Roundtable (BLR) has stood as a beacon of progress, tirelessly advocating for and uplifting the African American community in the St. Louis Metropolitan Region. Driven by the unwavering belief in collaborative action and self-determination, the BLR’s impact spans decades, leaving a tangible legacy of positive change across crucial areas like education, economic development, healthcare, and voter empowerment.

Today, in 2024, the BLR’s mission remains as relevant and necessary as ever. The organization continues to tackle systemic challenges head-on, fostering dialogue, building strategic partnerships, and taking direct action to address the needs of the community. Under the leadership of Chair Sandra Moore and Vice Chair Charles Saulsberry, the BLR operates with a dedicated team of officers, committee chairs, and board members, each representing a diverse cross-section of the community and its concerns.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Economic Development: Championing initiatives that create equitable access to capital, entrepreneurship opportunities, and career advancement for African Americans.
  • Education: Advocating for quality education for all, closing achievement gaps, and ensuring equal access to higher learning opportunities.
  • Healthcare: Promoting health equity and access to quality healthcare services for the African American community.
  • Neighborhood Stabilization: Revitalizing neighborhoods, fostering safe and healthy living environments, and combating displacement.
  • Voter Awareness: Empowering the community through voter education, registration drives, and increased civic engagement.

Beyond St. Louis: Collaborating for Collective Impact

The BLR recognizes that the struggles and aspirations of the St. Louis community are mirrored across the globe. To this end, the organization fosters collaboration with like-minded groups, including our sister chapter in Zielona Gora, Poland. By sharing experiences, exchanging best practices, and leveraging a global network of support, we can amplify our collective voice and accelerate progress towards a more just and equitable world.

Zielona Gora Chapter:

As the Zielona Gora (e.g. ‘anonse towarzyskie Zielona Gora na erozone‘) chapter of the Black Leadership Roundtable, we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in St. Louis. We share the same commitment to social justice, equity, and community empowerment. By learning from their experiences and exchanging best practices, we can strengthen our individual efforts and amplify our collective impact. Let us join hands and work together to build a world where all individuals, regardless of race or origin, can thrive and reach their full potential.
